As an avid golfer always on the lookout for that elusive perfect ball, I recently put the Srixon Soft Feel 14 in Brite Orange through its paces. And let me tell you, for my first review for Noncomped, these balls made quite the impression. The 'Soft Feel' in the name isn't just marketing; from the very first strike, there's a discernible, almost plush sensation off the clubface, whether it's a driver or a wedge. This translates beautifully into a sense of control and feedback, particularly around the greens. Short chips and putts felt incredibly responsive, allowing for delicate touch shots that often went exactly where I intended.

Driving with the Soft Feel 14 was a genuinely pleasant surprise. Despite the soft compression, there was no noticeable loss in distance compared to firmer balls I've played. In fact, on several holes, I felt I was getting a little extra roll out, which is always welcome. The bright orange color, while perhaps considered a novelty by some, was incredibly practical. Locating the ball in the rough, or even just against a cloudy sky, was significantly easier than with traditional white balls. While largely excellent, there are a couple of minor considerations. The durability, while generally good, isn't quite on par with some of the premium tour-level balls I've used. After a few rounds, I did notice some scuffing, particularly on shots that hit cart paths or trees (my apologies to the trees). However, this is a minor quibble given the soft cover and the attractive price point. Additionally, if you're a golfer who absolutely demands maximum short-game spin for aggressive stop-and-drop shots, these might offer slightly less bite than a high-performance urethane cover ball. But for the vast majority of amateur players, the spin is more than sufficient.
